Proposed Regional Pest Management Plan and Biosecurity Strategy

Consultation has concluded

TĒNĀ KOUTOU KATOA

Otago Regional Council (ORC) have developed a Regional Pest Management Plan, which sets out the framework for how pest plants and animals, specified in the plan, will be managed in the Otago region over the next 10 years.

We’ve also developed a Biosecurity Strategy, which sets out ORC's biosecurity priorities and a programme of action for how we will deliver biosecurity activities over the next 10 years.

We had a thorough consultation process, public submissions and feedback were open from 1 November to 14 December 2018 and hearings were held in June 2019 in Dunedin and Queenstown.

The Hearing Panel have finished their deliberations and their recommendations were brought to an ORC council meeting on 25 September 2019 where Council accepted the recommendations.

The decision on the Otago Regional Pest Management Plan will be formally notified on 1 October 2019.

The Biosecurity Strategy is now operational and is not subject to appeals.
