Love Your Leith: Round Two

Consultation has concluded

Earlier this year, we went to the Dunedin community with the first round of Love Your Leith to identify your values, visions and ideas for how the lower reaches of the Leith could look – and we had some great responses!

Some key things you told us you want are:

  • Better accessibility to the water
  • Less concrete, more nature
  • Connected, shared pathways along the river
  • Spaces for seating, public art, or sculpture
  • A greater connection to the river

And there was plenty more feedback. Check out the full engagement report here.

Informed by your initial feedback, the Leith Project Working Group has developed potential concepts for enhancement of the Forth St - Harbour section of the Leith, and these are now ready for your feedback.

The potential concepts

The Forth St - Harbour section of the Leith is quite long so to make it more manageable we treated it as three distinct sections: Forth Street to Anzac Avenue; Anzac Avenue to State Highway 88; and State Highway 88 out to the Harbour. Each section has a different environment from the next and therefore, different themes for design were used.

Click on the section titles below to view more information:

1. FORTH STREET - ANZAC AVENUE - Theme: Natural stream

2. AVENUE AVENUE - STATE HIGHWAY 88 - Theme: Tidal estuary

3. STATE HIGHWAY 88 - HARBOUR - Theme: Connect to sea

Your Leith, your say

We'd like to know what you love about these concepts. Have we got it right? Which part would you like to see happen first?

This second round of Love Your Leith consultation will help to confirm or change the ideas captured and finalise the concepts that the Working Group will present to Council later this year.

Have your say by clicking on ‘My Feedback’ below or visit the display panels at the Dunedin City Council library.

Feedback is now open and will close 5pm Friday 24 August. Display panels will be at the Hub until 9 August.
